Top teams in college basketball took control of the standings with a strong start and consistency throughout. The LSU Tigers also had an unbeaten start and later struggled against the tougher opponents. Many criticized the easy early schedule for the team, but coach Kim Mulkey defended the soft non-conference schedule, claiming tougher opponents would have led to multiple early losses for LSU.

Analyzing the loss, Mulkey said, “I think [the LSU players] lost their composure a little bit. It’s the timing of the turnovers, it’s the timing of the bad shots. I guess you could use the word frustrated,” Mulkey explained.
