The Las Vegas Aces levelled the series with a dominating win in Game 2 at home, living up to its second-half form. While A’ja Wilson controlled the game, as Stephanie White noted, the referees’ foul calls denied her side a victory. The game was physical, with a total of 41 fouls called in the match.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon criticized the physicality in Game 2, while the Fever head coach pointed out the number of fouls called against her team in the matchup. The Atlanta Dream managing partner, Larry Gottesdiener, had something to say about White’s complaint.
Atlanta Dream Managing Partner Larry Gottesdiener Reacts To Stephanie White’s Complaint
Many analysts predicted that the Indiana Fever would be a favorite against the strong Atlanta Dream side, yet the Dream came out victorious in the opening series. Following the first-round win, the Indiana Fever savaged the WNBA experts with an epic three-word burn. While the loss in the opening round hurt Atlanta Dream MP Larry Gottensdiener, he got the opportunity to fire shots at the Fever HC.

During the postgame interview, Stephanie White highlighted that her side couldn’t get a chance to make a comeback as the referees were calling fouls on plays. “Well, it’s hard for us to find flow when there’s a foul called every 10 seconds. I mean, it just really is,” White complained in the interview.
Gottensdiener was quick to respond to her analysis and wrote, “Tell us about it,” on his official Twitter account.
Ironically, the Indiana Fever vs Atlanta Dream series averaged around 36 free throws per game, with the Fever team getting 21 times to the charity line and the Atlanta side getting 15 free throws. The numbers were reversed in the Fever vs Aces Game 2, with the Las Vegas side getting more free throws.

But the 48-year-old wasn’t happy with her team’s efforts either, as she pointed out their flaws in the postgame interview.
Stephanie White Blasts The Lack Of Efforts From The Indiana Fever Team
After winning the first game, the Fever side had the advantage of putting the Aces under pressure. Winning Game 2 would have handed them a realistic chance to advance to the final. Now, the series remains at the highest level, and it has become the best of three. While the Indiana side has a home advantage in this shortened series, playing against in-form A’ja Wilson will still be difficult for them.
Hence, White bashed the players for being ‘soft’ in the game, even though she criticized the officiating.
“We didn’t throw any punches. The reality is they came in, they were physical, they dictated, and we were on our heels. We were passive. We were reactive to everything… They’re too good. We can’t spot them 42 (points). We’ve got to be able to handle that,” she said.
While two games are done and dusted, Fever will be back at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena, looking to close the series at home to advance to the WNBA finals for the first time since 2015.
