The Las Vegas Aces are the WNBA champions. Social media erupted as A’ja Wilson and her team swept the Mercury. Surely, it was one of the biggest moments in the history of the Aces. After all, dominating the finals 4-0 is not a joke. The Aces came in with a 3-0 lead. And while the Mercury did try their best to turn the tide, Wilson’s heroics ensured that it was smooth sailing for the Aces.
Meanwhile, as the team is drenched in celebrations, the social media banter has taken a surprising turn. Soon after humbling the Mercury on the hardwood, the official X, formerly known as the Twitter account of the Aces, took a jibe at a post from 2020 from the Phoenix Mercury.
Las Vegas Aces Hits Back At Phoenix Mercury In Style
Five years ago, in 2020, darkness engulfed the world. With the COVID-19 scare hindering normal life, social distancing became the norm. However, the Phoenix Mercury took this opportunity to take a jibe at the teams that had never won the title. And guess what, the Aces also fell into the category! Speaking about the post, the Mercury had the picture of the trophy on one hand. And on the other hand, they had logos of six teams that did not win. A line separated the teams from the trophy as the caption read, “Social Distancing.”

Now then, at the time the post was published in 2020, Phoenix had three championships under its belt. But five years from then, the tides have completely turned. The Aces just won their third championship as they humbled the Mercury 4-0. And the Aces’ admin thought that there was no better time to give the ‘social distancing’ jibe back to Mercury. The Aces reposted the tweet from 2020 and wrote, “On Planet Aces, we’ve won (three trophies) since you posted this.”

Surely, this was one of the most dominant victories for a WNBA team in the finals. Soon after the victory, cameras caught Wilson hugging Bam Adebayo emotionally. Meanwhile, as Aces’ recent post took over the internet, the fans had all sorts of things to say.
