The Seattle Storm wrapped up their season in a very unconventional way. With a shot at a semifinal place, they missed two back-to-back game winners before the lights went out on their 2025 season. One of them was Erica Wheeler, who sounded undeterred despite missing the final shot, while players on the bench, like Lexie Brown, were screaming for a chance to showcase their abilities.
In the exit interview, the star took the opportunity to express her views on limited game time and discuss ‘misconceptions’ about her health.
Lexie Brown Frustrated With Limited Game Time
Before the start of the 2025 season, the Seattle Storm traded their second-round pick for the veteran guard and a third-round pick. The move seemed to be the safest way to lock down an experienced player. But she played for just below 10 minutes per game, coming off the bench during the garbage period.

During an exit interview, the player made her feelings clear, pointing out that she had a limited opportunity despite being healthy.
“I just want everyone to know that I’m healthy. I feel great, and the fact that I was able to show up every day as my best self and do everything I could to earn time on this court was a win for me… just don’t think I was given the opportunity I deserve here, and I feel like I have so much basketball left to play. If that’s here, if that’s somewhere else, I don’t know,” Brown said in an interview.

The Storm franchise would undergo massive changes following the end of Skylar Diggins and Ogwumike’s era. There were talks about Storm facing an imminent coaching shake-up despite clinching a playoff spot. And now Brown’s statements also hint at changes in roster.
Lexie Brown Suffered From Crohn’s Disease
One key reason for her limited game time was Crohn’s disease, which she had in the 2023 season. The disease affects productivity, causing intestinal damage that leads to malnutrition, weight loss, and fatigue. Managing a chronic illness while maintaining a demanding basketball career is physically and emotionally taxing, but the player maintained that she is completely healthy now.
“I hate the fact that so many people think I’m not, and that I’m a liability and I can’t make it through a season. … I feel amazing. This is the best my body has felt in two years,” Brown told the Seattle Times.
It looks like the player might be looking for more game time with another franchise, following the Seattle Storm’s plans to invest in a younger core.
