There are many ‘cherishable’ memories for the Indiana Fever players (except injuries) that defined their 2025 season. But another disappointing news was the ‘departure’ of DeWanna Bonner, who was signed as a veteran presence in the lineup. Lexie Hull, playing at the same position, expressed her feelings about the move.
While Bonner’s decision shocked many, Caitlin Clark’s viral altercation with DeWanna Bonner spread multiple rumors. Hull cleared her view on the topic in a recent interview.
Lexie Hull Still In Shock After DeWanna Bonner’s Indiana Fever Trade
The Indiana Fever loaded its 2025 roster with multiple championship winners and experienced role players. DeWanna Bonner was one such presence on the team who was a guide and mentor for the whole team. But the two-time champion shocked many, leaving the side after nine games.

Hull was one of her ‘understudy’ who was shocked by the decision as she said, “I was super, super, super excited because finally there’s a (player in my position) that I can look up to… I can learn something from her,” Hull said. “And then she randomly leaves, and we’re all just kind of like, ‘What happened?’ We were never given an explanation. To have no explanation was really challenging.”
Bonner took the starter role for the Fever, putting the former Stanford player on the bench, but she was still happy with that role as she wanted to learn from the ‘best’. Bonner’s departure turned ugly as many fans started to target the player.

While the Mercury star explained her side as she wanted ‘familiarity and love’, which forced her to make the decision. She mentioned that she was sure of love and affection in Phoenix than in Indiana.
