When asked about the favourite part of being part of Team USA, Caitlin Clark revealed it’s the chance to wear the jersey. The fever guard provided the shortest yet the deepest answer, which was that the jersey represents the legacy and importance of the player. Angle Reese also shared similar emotions as she reflected on her chance to play for the national side at the senior level.
While USA Basketball shared their pictures with new jersey numbers, WNBA fans were divided over Reese’s Team USA photoshoot video. But former player Lisa Leslie was not in two minds and shared her reaction on social media.

Lisa Leslie Backs Caitlin Clark And Angel Reese
While the Reese AR5 and CC’s 22 jersey numbers are famous, the national team hands players numbers under FIBA rules, and hence saw a change of their Jersey numbers. The Fever guard is wearing number 12 for Team USA, while Reese is donning the number 9. Interestingly, their jersey numbers are reminiscent of two Team USA legends, Diana Taurasi and Leslie.
While a post showed the resemblance on ‘How It started and How it is now’ using the mega star duos in the post. Leslie shared a post highlighting both duos and added a caption to her Instagram story. Leslie wrote, “Got it right 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 @caitlinclark22 and @angel.reese.”
The debutant rookies will be filling in big shoes for sure, with Lesli and Taurasi achieving so much with those jersey numbers for Team USA. Leslie recently showed her support for Reese after his exit from Unrivalled season 2, acknowledging the forward with just three words.

Interestingly, both stars are on the right path, setting the tone for their national career with solid performances in the debut competition.
Angel Reese And Caitlin Clark Record Double-Double Performances
Clark earlier mentioned that she is feeling nervous about her senior debut, especially after returning to the court after eight months of rehab. On the floor, though, she dominated the possessions and secured 17 points and provided 12 assists in the opening game.

Similarly, Reese shone in the second game of the competition against the hosts, Puerto Rico, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Double-double performances early in their senior-level career certainly are a morale booster, and they might replicate the success that jersey numbers 12 and 9, Taurasi and Leslie, had.
