It might be a bad day or a bad season, but it’s not a bad life. That’s the very quote the Los Angeles Sparks are living by. The Sparks had the only resort to reach the WNBA playoffs, yet they couldn’t. But now, as things are turning around, LA has raised the bar for WNBA facilities with a groundbreaking $150 million practice and training center set to open in El Segundo by 2027.
Recently announced on September 24, the 55,000-square-foot complex promises to redefine athlete support with two regulation courts, a weight room, nap rooms, an outdoor spa pool, and a player sanctuary. Additionally, it also marks the largest single-team investment in women’s sports history.
Los Angeles Sparks Going Big With $150 Million Practice Facility
The Sparks’ new El Segundo facility, set for a 2027 debut, will feature cutting-edge amenities tailored for player performance and recovery. The centerpiece of the investment would be two full-size courts, advanced training spaces, dedicated nap rooms, and an indoor-outdoor sanctuary with an outdoor spa pool.

At $150 million, it’s a historic investment, outpacing other WNBA projects like the Aces’ 88,000-square-foot facility opened in 2023 and the Dallas Wings’ upcoming center. And just like that, owner Eric Holoman emphasized the advancement of player facilities while making it big in the city.
“We’re building a place where Sparks players can be at their best on and off the court. From cutting-edge training and recovery spaces to family and community areas, every corner of this facility was designed with them at the center,” he said.
