There are many such instances where fans saw the WNBA teams changing venues to NBA arenas to accommodate more spectators. Even the expansion teams like the Golden State Valkyries and Cleveland are already playing in the NBA arenas, staying ready for the future demands.
While many compared the WNBA’s rise and popularity to women’s other sports, the entertainment industry now gets a taste of the league’s demand as the thrilling semifinal series between the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury forced Jonas Brothers to reschedule their concert.
Phoenix Mercury’s Win In Game Two Forces Rescheduling Of Jonas Brothers Concert
The WNBA semifinals are tied at 1-1, with all four teams still at equal distance from the final series. The Las Vegas Aces came back strong at home, winning the second game of the series. At the same time, the Phoenix Mercury registered an emphatic win over the league leaders in the other semifinal, guaranteeing the series will go to Game 4.

The Mercury team will be back at PHX Arena taking on the Lynx for the next two games. Incidentally, game 4 of the series is on September 28, clashing with the Jonas Brothers concert at the PHX Arena. The famous band is on the JONAS20 Hometown Tour, and due to a clash of schedules at the venue, their concert will now be the next day.
This is the first time that an event at the venue is rescheduled for the WNBA game, which highlights the rise of the WNBA and its popularity. Also, the Lynx vs Mercury is one of the high-profile series in the league with multiple superstars playing in the game.

The Phoenix Mercury Register Massive Comeback Win At Target Center
The Target Center had been a fortress for the Lynx, losing just three games in the 24 games played at the venue in the 2025 season. While the side looked comfortable, clinching a commanding win at the home court against the Mercury, Alyssa Thomas’ team made a massive push mid-way through the third quarter with a 12-0 run. The 20-deficit was down to eight, and Sami Whitcomb’s dagger forced an unexpected overtime.
In overtime, Mercury scored the first basket and led for the rest of the game to clinch the victory. With the win, the Mercury now holds an edge in the series against the Lynx, and with wins at their home court, they have a chance to advance to the finals.
Rescheduling of the Jonas Brothers’ concert is a massive morale booster for the team, who could now look to make the most of the opportunity at hand.
