Teams finishing at the bottom of the table either have a weak roster or players out of form, handing them a poor run of results. As for the Dallas Wings, that was not the case, but injuries kept them short-handed on multiple occasions. In a recent game, the Wings faced a forfeit risk due to fewer active players on the roster.
Yet the team put up fighting efforts in many games. Had they had a healthy roster, the results against the Connecticut Sun, Golden State Valkyries, and Los Angeles Sparks would have been different. Forward Maddy Siegrist talks about the same in the recent interview.
Maddy Siegrist Opens Up On Dallas Wings’ Tough Season
The addition of Paige Bueckers made the Dallas-based franchise one of the intriguing sides in the WNBA. The 22-year-old rookie is close to winning the Rookie of the Year accolade, but the side’s record keeps her away from the postseason.

The Dallas Wings made an early exit in the season following a loss against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 21. After 10 days, they stand 13th in the league standings, still with just nine wins. Even Bueckers’ rookie season will have an unwanted record because of the Wings.
But Maddy Siegrist provides a reason behind the team’s struggles and rather hypes her team’s efforts in such adverse situations.
“We’ve been dealt a tough card at points this season. I mean, we didn’t know we were going to have enough players to play tonight, and we just we’re like, ‘okay, we have eight tonight, we’re going to go with this eight… This is who we got, and we have enough.’ I think that’s a positive, like, to go up to a championship contention team and go toe-to-toe for three and a half quarters… That just shows the direction we’re going,” the 24-year-old forward told the media.

Dallas Wings Looking To Build For Future
With a few positives from the 2025 season, the Texas franchise is looking to build for the future. They have Paige Bueckers on their roster until the 2029 season and will look to secure a title in that period. The Golden State Warriors’ forward, Draymond Green, advised the Wings about the future, and the front office is already working towards the same.
Trading to key players – DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith for future first-round picks shows the team’s intentions to add top young stars from the upcoming WNBA draft, to extend its dominance. The updated CBA deal, if confirmed by the end of the 2025 season, would also help the side to hold on to top players or add experience alongside PB.
