The players’ plea for equal pay has made the WNBA realm pretty much unstable at this point. With the CBA negotiations going on, there is no confirmed timeline as to when things will be sorted.
As of now, with the likes of Napheesa Collier making some explosive statements, the chances of a players’ work stoppage is looming large. Currently, WNBA players are focused on securing a more equitable revenue-sharing model.
Unfortunately, the league leadership hasn’t been on the same page on the matter for a long time. Now, trying to explain the pay gap in the WNBA, Michael Jordan’s daughter, Jasmine Jordan, shared an elaborate video.
What Did Jasmine Jordan Say About The WNBA Pay Gap?
Jasmine has always been vocal for women’s rights in the WNBA. Recently, MJ’s daughter shared a video uploaded by Sportsball on her Instagram story. The video began by comparing the league’s sudden surge in viewership, finances, and other metrics.

It then pointed out how, in the NBA, the players are entitled to a 50% cut of the revenue. Thus, this means that the players will have an increased income as the revenue increases gradually each year. Unfortunately, that was not the case with the WNBA.
“But in the WNBA, salaries are locked in for the life of the deal. You can see that on this chart here, with minimum contracts starting at $57,000 in 2020 and maximum at $185,000, with both increasing by a set 3% per season until the deal expires in 2027,” the video stated.

Lastly, the video also summed up by saying that the current CBA system was perfect for scenarios back when the league’s visibility was flat. Now, with the likes of A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, and others elevating the league to new heights, revisiting the agreement is of utmost importance. Meanwhile, this is not the first time MJ’s daughter has supported the players. Jasmine recently sent a clear message supporting WNBA players’ demands.
Jasmine Jordan Makes Clear Statement In Favor Of Equal Pay Demands
Come 2025, most of the WNBA players will have opted out of the 2020 CBA contract. With the league allotting them a meagre share of 7% from the revenue, the likes of Angel Reese and Collier are pushing for more.
Unfortunately, although they reached no satisfactory conclusion, Michael Jordan’s daughter delivered a clear message to the authorities.
In a recent social media post, Jasmine shared Kelsey Plum’s comment. She stated, “We’re not asking to get paid what the men get paid. We’re asking to get paid the same percentage of revenue shared” on Instagram.
Thus, as things look quite bleak, everyone now waits to see what happens next.
