The WNBA realm is currently balancing itself on some slippery slope. On one hand, the league has finally gained some significant momentum after years of dormancy. However, on the flip side, things have been looking quite grim with the athletes. Opting out of their last CBA contracts, the WNBA athletes now want a better revenue-sharing agreement.
Unfortunately, as no satisfactory middle ground could be reached, the athletes took matters into their own hands. Ahead of the WNBA All-Star game, the players could be spotted wearing ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us’ t-shirts. And now, with the controversy gaining significant momentum, Michael Jordan’s daughter has chimed in with her take.
Michael Jordan’s Daughter Extends Her Hand Of Support For WNBA Athletes
In a recent statement, WNBA star Kelsey Plum stated that there was a misconception going around. The common narrative has been that the WNBA players are demanding a lot of money. In fact, they are asking to be paid the exact amount that their male counterparts earn in the NBA. But Plum clarified that it was not the case.
And Michael Jordan’s daughter, Jasmine Jordan seems to have liked Plum’s point of view significantly. Sharing her comments on Instagram, Jasmine gave out a clear indication of how strongly she is supporting the movement.
“We’re not asking to get paid what the men get paid. We’re asking to get paid the same percentage of revenue shared,” Plum’s comment read.
Surely, there seems to be a large mismatch in the revenue-sharing model between the NBA and the WNBA. While the NBA shares approximately 50% of its total accumulated revenue, the WNBA’s figures are pretty meager. According to reports from ‘MarketWatch,’ Angel Reese and co. only gets 9%. On the contrary, the revenue of the league has been going up steadily in the past few years.

According to ‘Bloomberg,’ the WNBA collected a revenue of $119 million in 2023. This was significantly higher than what they used to generate back in 2019 ($102 million). And remember, all of these records are prior to Caitlin Clark’s blockbuster rookie season in 2024. And not only Jasmine Jordan, but also Kylie Kelce had some strong words for the WNBA.
Kylie Kelce Drops NSFW Take On WNBA Equal Pay Fiasco
Former NFL star, Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce is furious. Speaking up in favor of the WNBA athletes, Kelce believed that they must get what they deserve. She also pointed out that with the latest media rights coming in, the league’s revenue will further go up. Lashing out towards the ones opposing it, Kelce had a NSFW response.
“This feels very much like f— around and find out energy… The league, f—ing around, the players said, ‘Find out, check out my shirt,” said Kelce. (via X)

Thus, with things looking pretty complicated, fans would now be looking eagerly to see what happens next.
