Connecticut Sun Might have had one of the worst seasons in franchise history, but HC Rachid Meziane gave them one big reason to prove his worth. As much as the front office backs the rookie coach, they are also seeking key stars to build around. One such player could be Migna Toure.
The player made her WNBA debut with the franchise, but didn’t get much gametime to showcase her abilities on the floor. Now, in the offseason, the French player’s output might give the Sun a completely different perspective.
Migna Toure’s Overseas Performance Could Be Encouraging Sign For Sun
The talent actually spotted by the Golden Staten Valkyries signed a seven-day contract for the Connecticut Sun first, and then played in 18 games for the side. While this was a sign of the trust the franchise kept in her, she averaged around eight minutes for them in the season.

The rookie was brought in for her versatility and defensive activity, but now her overseas gameplay with the Besiktas will put her in the spotlight once again, as she showcased her offensive ability on the floor. Her off-the-ball movements, opening up the spaces and shot creations, helped Besiktas in the recent game.

It was not just ‘one of those games’ for the European star; even during her time at the Sun, she scored only five of 14 baskets unassisted, which highlights her ability to create shots for herself.

The French star has already shown flashes of her skills with the national side, playing a crucial role in the 2019 World Cup and securing a third-place finish at the competition in 2021. With the WNBA team ranking at the bottom of the offensive rating, having such a player would make a huge difference.
How Can Connecticut Sun Benefit From Migna Toure’s New Role
In the offseason, the Connecticut Sun GM Morgan Tuck addresses fans’ desperation to bring the franchise to Boston, but refuses to confirm. With that, she even added that the front office is overseeing the roster and improving it in the upcoming seasons.

Although the team tried to win games with their strong defensive play, the roster missed a shot creator throughout the 2025 season, following the loss of Alyssa Thomas in the 2025 free agency. The French star showcased her ability to fill the gap with attacking, offensive gameplay and driving through the lanes to open up spaces for her teammates.
This gives the organization the chance to explore the version of Toure by giving her more freedom, responsibility, and a bigger offensive workload. While she has already demonstrated her defensive abilities with the team, designating her as the primary ball handler or even the first player off the bench would resolve many issues, especially since the franchise has the right to protect the player from the expansion draft and free agency.
