After the conclusion of the 2025 season, all 15 teams in the league (including the expansion teams) will have to start anew, as many veterans and star players become free agents, waiting for confirmation of the CBA deal. While 14 teams have confirmed a base, the Connecticut Sun are unsure about their next home court.
The franchise is not ‘new’ to the iconic TD Garden, as they played a few of their games in Boston. And now with the franchise on sale and a suitor in Boston, fans want to see the side shift to the megacity.
Even recently, Aaliyah Edwards and Saniya Rivers stole the spotlight at the Boston Celtics’ NBA season opener. This gets fans excited, but GM Morgan Tuck is silent on committing to any specific date.
Connecticut Sun GM Morgan Tuck Refuses To Confirm Relocation
The ‘Connecticut Sun sale’ was a hot topic right from the start of the season, and the Mohegan group expressed a desire to sell the ownership, with Celtics’ co-owner Steve Pagliuca as a possible buyer. WNBA blocked the sale, and the issue dragged on till the end of the season, when the league was already dealing with the CBA negotiations.

This extended the delay, making the Boston and Connecticut fanbase restless. Understanding their ‘urge’, Connecticut Sun GM Morgan Tuck answered a question about the possible relocation date. She said, “I can’t really give an answer because I don’t know. But I think it’s always a good thing that people want a team. They want a ‘W’ to be here. Now, will they get it or not? Who knows, but it’s a good problem to have.”

In her answer, she neither committed to a date nor confirmed a city, but raised uncertainty about possible relocation due to the WNBA’s stance on the sale. This could be the safest answer with the Connecticut Sun’s current ownership alleging the WNBA of ‘trying to steal’ the franchise.
On the work front, however, the GM is overseeing the rebuild, regardless of the city in which they will play.
Connecticut Sun Front Office Working To Retain Solid Roster For 2026
The Connecticut Sun missed the playoffs after nine seasons and finished 11th in the standings with 11 wins. However, there were many positives for the ‘rookie’ team, with the new coach proving his worth and the rookies playing a key role. Despite the Sun’s struggles during the season, the team went 6-8 when the entire roster was healthy. That proved that they have the talent, but between the rookie core and the new head coach, they had a harder time finding harmony on the court.
While the 2025 season is still under wraps, management is looking to rebuild and will aim to hold onto its veteran core while integrating it with the rookies they have. Tuck knows that the rebuilding process will take time. But they took over the position in 2024, and she did a fantastic job putting the relatively new team on the map.
