It was Napheesa Collier who took the initiative, amping up the WNBA’s fight for their ‘rights’. She used the exit interview as a stage for her criticism of Cathy Engelbert and the league’s direction amid the stretched CBA negotiations.
While a few fans criticized her move, the star received massive support from the players, which demonstrated their unity and commitment to putting their demands at the forefront. WNBA President Nneka Ogwumike praised Collier’s leadership as she also extended her support. The Lynx player now continues to take the lead as she fires shots at CBA inequity amid 2025 record popularity.
Napheesa Collier Talks About CBA Inequality
With a gradual increase in its popularity, the WNBA set new records every season. But since 2024, the league has experienced a massive surge that surpassed its growth rate and accelerated the expansion. In 2025, the WNBA broke a two-decade-long regular-season attendance record and even signed a lucrative broadcasting deal.

While all this hinted at enormous growth of the league, the players felt ‘left behind’ and the Lynx forward mentioned this point in her latest rant over the league’s ‘inequality’ in the CBA discussions.
Collier said, “We are being so grossly almost taken advantage of, and it should be illegal. The amount of money that Caitlin Clark has made the league is insane, and she’s getting 0% of it because we have no rev share. She gets less than $80,000 a year, and she’s bringing in, like, hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s insane.”

Collier gave examples of CC, including Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese, in her earlier speech and reasserted her point with actual numbers to showcase the difference.
Many players also stand on this equality as they demanded an increased revenue share with the NBA model. It is also important to note that the WNBPA is not asking for ‘the same revenue share ’as the NBA, but a ‘respectable share’. The NBPA also showed its support for the WNBPA with its recent post.
Napheesa Collier Sends Warning To WNBA Player
The CBA negotiation deadline date is now November 30. The players and league will now look for alternative proposals to find the solution. But Collier is firm on demands as she warned fellow players to stay strong again.
“If we give in, we’re not only doing a disservice to us, (but) we’re doing a disservice to where we have gotten in women’s sports. We really have no choice but to stand strong again, not just for the present, but for the future of our league too,” Collier said.
Now it will be interesting to watch whether the league will agree to the demands right away or propose an alternative solution that would satisfy both parties for a longer duration.
