The CBA deadline is fast approaching. And very few WNBA players believe the league will reach a proper solution within that timeframe. The WNBA athletes have been asking for a fair share of revenue for a long time.
But while a host of other things are being discussed, things are looking extremely grey when it comes to the revenue-sharing. With the deadline looming, Napheesa Collier and Cathy Engelbert’s rift seems to be deepening.
While the duo reportedly met with each other after Collier’s public callout, things do not look to have become normal. And now, as the players stare at a potential work stoppage, Collier has pointed out what exactly they will lose if they back out of the CBA negotiations.
What Did Napheesa Collier Say About The CBA Negotiations?
The Minnesota Lynx star has been leading the charge for CBA talks so far. And recently, with her public criticism of Engelbert, the WNBA owner rebuked Collier for her actions.

But as of now, it looks like Collier is not backing down anytime soon. Instead, she is making her fellow mates remember what exactly they are fighting for. In a recent statement, Collier pointed out that letting go of their rights would mean an insult to female sports.
“If we give in, we’re not only doing a disservice to us, we’re doing a disservice to where we have gotten in women’s sports,” Collier said. “We really have no choice but to stand strong again, not just for the present, but for the future of our league too.”

🗣️: “The amount of money that Caitlin Clark has made the league is insane, and she’s getting 0% of it because we have no revenue share. She gets less than $80,000 a year, and she’s bringing in, like, hundreds of… pic.twitter.com/Fawx2f3bXr
Surely, tensions between the players and management have risen sharply. And players like Nneka Ogwumike have praised Collier’s work while criticizing the leadership vehemently. And not only the WNBA players, but also NBA star Cam Johnson supported Collier’s claims.
Cam Johnson Speaks Up In Favor Of Napheesa Collier
Collier is getting a significant amount of support in her battle for the CBA negotiations. While the WNBA players have wholeheartedly supported the Lynx star, NBA star Johnson recently endorsed Collier’s point of view. In a recent episode of ‘The Young Man and the Three’ podcast with Sue Bird, Johnson stated that since the league is young, it was quite normal for everyone to maximize their value within the sphere.

“The competition across the league is in a great place. And in regards to Phee’s comments, she’s earned the right,” Johnson stated.
Surely, it is evident that things are heading towards a slippery slope. Now, fans will have to wait and see what happens next.
