Minnesota’s incredible dominance in Las Vegas was momentarily drowned out. The Lynx had just extended their lead past 40 points when Napheesa Collier, the centerpiece of their season and a clear MVP candidate, crumpled to the hardwood. With the Lynx looking to clinch the WNBA title this season, the unavailability of someone like Collier will surely haunt them badly.
The game itself was an overwhelming showcase of Minnesota’s depth and discipline. A 111-58 victory over Las Vegas is no small achievement, particularly on their home court. The Lynx shot efficiently, defended with intent, and controlled the pace from start to finish. However, by the time the buzzer sounded, the celebrations for the Lynx became muted. All attention had shifted to the health of Napheesa Collier.
Napheesa Collier’s Injury Keeps Minnesota Lynx On Edge
Collier’s injury occurred without contact. She followed a fast break led by guard Natisha Hiedeman, when her right ankle rolled as she stepped on Alanna Smith’s foot. The Lynx’s star went down immediately, visibly in pain. Several Las Vegas players formed a protective circle around her with towels, shielding her from cameras and spectators. Though she eventually exited on her own, the 28-year-old walked ever so slowly, with assistance and without returning.
Coach Cheryl Reeve provided little clarity after the game. She stated that Collier had been in the locker room, and further evaluation would follow. There was no definitive word on whether she would travel with the team to Seattle or undergo imaging in Las Vegas.

The Lynx are currently enjoying a 24-5 record at the top of the table. They will not be taking to the hardwood until Tuesday. Thus, there is time for Collier to recover. However, with speculations galore, an official update on the injury still awaits. Meanwhile, the MVP frontrunner has been in electric form this season. Leading the All-Star team, the 28-year-old set some incredible records.

Napheesa Collier was on cloud nine as the curtains came down on the All-Star game. Leading the squad against Team Clark, she led her team to a 20-point victory. And quite fittingly, it was Collier who emerged as the leading scorer of the night. But that was not all. The Lynx’s leading scorer also went past a prestigious All-Star record.

Collier dropped a whopping 36 points within 19 minutes of her game time. And this was the highest points dropped by an individual in an NBA All-Star clash. She went past Arike Ogunbowale’s record, who had scored 34 points in the 2024 edition.
