With WNBA players showing their unity in the CBA discussion, another unfortunate event brought them together. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday. Many WNBA stars, including Breanna Stewart, Angel Reese, and Cameron Brink, sent their prayers for the victim. Natisha Hiedeman called for unity in the tough times.
The player spent two seasons with the Minnesota-based WNBA franchise, the Lynx, and has been their key player in the recent season.

Natisha Heideman’s Post Over ICE Chaos
On January 7, Renee Good was shot and killed by an immigration officer. And recently, Alex Pretti’s death raised voices, and people criticized the process and its aggressive nature. While the protestors unite on the situation, Washington posts reports that there are hundreds of reports and even incidents of violence in the region.
Amid all the havoc, Cameron Brink shared a photo of ICE detaining a 5-year-old Liam Ramos in Minnesota, which creates a bad picture for ICE’s actions.
Heartbroken by the events, the 28-year-old guard shared a post that reads, “Sending all my love and prayers to Minnesota. Minnesota is such a beautiful place with an amazing community who embraced me fully and I am heartbroken to see ICE has flipped the city upside down and resorted to violence.”

Natisha Heideman’s Lynx Team And Other Minnesota Franchises Unite
Minnesota’s every major league team, including the Vikings, Timberwolves, Lynx, Wild, Twins, and Minnesota United FC, joined forces in the situation and showed their support for peace. They signed an open letter calling for state, local, and federal officers to work together in the wake of tensions over two fatal shootings by federal agents in the state.
“With yesterday’s tragic news, we are calling for an immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions,” The letter reads.

NBPA also joined the movement and shared a statement that reads, “Now more than ever, we must defend the right to freedom of speech and stand in solidarity with the people in Minnesota protesting and risking their lives to demand justice.”
While the Timberwolves postponed its game, The Minnesota Frost, who hosted the New York Sirens on Sunday, held a moment of silence for Pretti prior to their 6–2 win.
