The WNBA has been booming for the last couple of years. And while a host of factors have contributed to its sudden rise in fame, the roles of the athletes cannot be undermined at all. And out of all the names, two names have stood out. Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. Unfortunately, while Clark’s latest injury update seems pretty grim, Bueckers is making merry. And recently, she got a shoutout from none other than Ja Morant.
Bueckers’ Wings is in a dire strait at the moment. Lingering at the bottom half of the table, the team has officially been eliminated from the postseason. But that has not stopped the star rookie from proving herself as the next big thing in the WNBA.
Ja Morant Awestruck After Paige Bueckers Drops Phenomenal Stats
The former UConn Huskies’ star was on a roll last night. Facing off against the Los Angeles Sparks, Wings failed to clinch a victory. However, for Bueckers, it was a platform to showcase her impeccable hooping skills. The 23-year-old was on the court for only 36 minutes.

And within the short timeframe, she dropped 44 points! This was the highest points by a rookie in WNBA history. Within seconds, her performance went viral on social media. Notably, NBA icon Ja Morant took note of her incredible display. Taking to his X account, formerly known as Twitter, Morant expressed his admiration.
“Paige hoopin,” wrote Morant.

Well, the NBA star’s excitement was quite understandable. While Bueckers has played 29 games so far, she is averaging a solid 19.7 points per game. She also has 4.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists to show for her rookie season. Meanwhile, all these incredible stats have not come without the former Huskies facing some harsh challenges on the court.
Paige Bueckers Has Shone Bright Despite Facing The Toughest Defenders
Just after her historic 44-point game, Cameron Brink praised Bueckers. However, all of this comes at a great cost. Like Clark in the last season, Bueckers has faced some stiff challenges on the court. In a recent Bleacher Report update, the 23-year-old was claimed to have been blitzed on a minimum of 10% of occasions.

And this is not a normal stat at all. Only the likes of Tiffany Hayes, Marina Mabrey, and Sabrina Ionescu have such stats. This certainly makes the rookie star one of the elites already. Now, with more games coming up, fans are eager to see how well the Rookie of the Year front-runner performs.
