The Minnesota Lynx secured the first 2025 WNBA playoff spot earlier this season. And now, the defending champions, New York Liberty, too, have done the same. Throughout the season, Liberty had a consistent record and stayed put at second place. That was until the league entered its business end. Liberty had a sudden slump and lost some unexpected games. Falling to the fifth position, their playoff chances suffered a scare. Thankfully, things are looking sorted at the moment. But one problem remains.
The fans of New York have been facing an issue with the high ticket prices. And this has been prevalent right from the very beginning of the season. But with the fans excited for the playoffs, the ticket prices announced are making the fans lose their minds.
New York Liberty Puts A Hefty Premium On Their Playoff Games
The Liberty will be defending their crown at the Barclays Center. And with the playoff spot secured, fans are pretty much eager to witness their favorite star take the center stage. Unfortunately, the slated ticket prices for the Barclays Center are reportedly $28000! And if this piece of information is true, fans will surely have to burn a big hole in their pockets.

Well, as unfortunate as it might sound, the prices of the league all across the league have gone up significantly. A recent ‘Just Woman’ report earlier this year reported the 2024 average ticket price as $122. But come 2025, the same ticket will cost $173. Now, that is quite a big jump.

Diving deep into the matter, we can find some possible reasons for the hike in prices. And the biggest one is the rise in popularity of the league as a whole. With the likes of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers making merry, the league, too, is profiting heavily from them. Meanwhile, the Liberty will hope Sabrina Ionescu is fully fit for the playoffs. As per recent reports, Ionescu got a ‘progressing’ injury update from Sandy Brondello.
