With the rise in the popularity of women’s sports, Forbes has invested in it and recently released the list of the most powerful women in US Sports. Caitlin Clark was the most powerful female athlete on the list, despite spending just two seasons in the WNBA. However, the magazine has now identified the most valuable franchises around the globe, with the New York Liberty taking the pole position.
Liberty’s owner, Clara Wu Tsai, was on the powerful women’s list, while Breanna Stewart also made the cut in the earlier Forbes list. Now the 024 champions have another feather in their cap as the most valuable franchise in the league.

New York Liberty As the Most Valuable Women’s Sports Team
Forbes ranked the Women’s sports franchises across the world by their net valuation. While all 12 WNBA franchises (from 2024) made the top 25 list, five of them took the top five spots.
The New York Liberty is first with $400 million valuation, while the Indiana Fever stands second with $ 370 million valuation. The Seattle Storm follows the WNBA teams with $350 million valuation. It is important to note that the Liberty recently sold some shares in May at $450 million valuation.

Interestingly, the 2025 expansion team, Golden State Valkyries, is not in the list, but is seen as even more valuable than the Liberty, as per the projections. For the Liberty, though, they became the first ever ‘most valuable’ side on the Forbes list and entered the 2026 season with new energy.
New Liberty To Enter New Era With Coach Chris DeMarco
The Liberty hired the Golden State Warriors assistant Chris DeMarco as Head Coach for the 2026 season. While the coach has a successful record with the Warriors, winning four NBA titles in the last 14 years, the WNBA is a completely different league altogether.

Luckily, DeMarco can expect the core of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones to stay with the franchise in free agency, and will look to implement his ‘player-first’ strategy to get the results. De Marco will join the team from January, giving him plenty of time to work closely with the players and staff ahead of the 2026 season.
