The New York Liberty is looking for WNBA glory this season. And going by their current form, things are looking quite positive. Currently placed second, Liberty has won 17 games and has seven losses. However, their recent outing was not at all memorable. Facing off against the Los Angeles Sparks, Liberty faltered 99-101. However, the loss itself was not a major cause for concern.
That is because Liberty is more concerned about Breanna Stewart’s injury. Stewart earlier left the game in the opening minutes of the first half. And as she was taken over for imaging, fans and teammates looked significantly concerned.
Breanna Stewart Avoids Significant Injury
It looks like all the prayers are finally being answered. After undergoing imaging on her right knee, Stewart seems to have avoided significant damage. According to reports from The Post’s Madeline Kenney, Stewart will accompany Liberty on their upcoming road trip. However, as per Kenney, the Liberty Star will have the freedom to come back only after she has recovered.
“Breanna Stewart had imaging done on her right leg which showed she avoided significant injury after exiting last night’s game, sources told The Post. She’ll be with the Liberty on this four-game road trip, but the team plans to give her time to fully recover,” said Kenney. (Via X, formerly known as Twitter)

Now, despite her avoiding a major setback, Liberty will feel Stewart’s absence. After all, she was in sublime form this season. Averaging 18.3 points per game till now, the Liberty will be forced to adjust. Again. Earlier, a right ankle injury to Jonquel Jones resulted in her missing a couple of stretches. Now, as Stewart will take the backseat, injuries have overwhelmed Liberty. The likes of Nyara Sabally, Kennedy Burke(cramp), and Leonie Fiebich(hand) are all injured. Meanwhile, not only does Stewart have a significant impact on Liberty, but she is also taking charge when it comes to equal pay.
Breanna Stewart Emerges As The Face Of Fair Pay
The WNBA athletes have walked out of the CBA contract. With the WNBA only sharing a meagre 9% of their profits, the athletes have pressed for more. Especially when their counterpart, the NBA has a ratio of 50-50. Striving towards a better pay, Breanna Stewart recently had a bold statement to make.

“The W is using the momentum to make sure that whether you’ve been here long enough to understand negotiations from 2020 to negotiations now. From where we started when I had roommates in my rookie season of the league, now flying charter with Delta, to hopefully even reaching new heights in the following seasons, we’re constantly the ones that are using our platforms for better and striving for even more,” Stewart told USA Today.
She pointed out that initial offers from the league were pretty futile. Thus, with a lot going on, fans are excited to see how Breanna Stewart orchestrates her coming WNBA days.
