The midtable tussle is wild in the 2025 WNBA Season. While the Minnesota Lynx became the first team to qualify for the postseason, and the Connecticut Sun was the first team to get eliminated, there are still four teams whose season hangs in the balance with every game’s result. Two teams from that lot played on August 26, with Nneka Ogwumike and Kelsey Mitchell having a memorable night individually.
KM broke Caitlin Clark’s record for the most points in a single season by a Fever player, while the Storm veteran forward also set a scoring record in the Fever vs Storm game.
Nneka Ogwumike Becomes Part Of Seattle Storm History
Many fans expected Caitlin Clark to take the court while her franchise needed her the most. Even though there were hints about her making progress in the rehab, she was once again in casuals and supported her team from the sidelines.

In her absence, the Fever’s other starting guard took over the offensive duty (once again) and led her side to a 95-5 victory at the Gainbridge Arena. From the visitors, it was a familiar player providing resistance to the Fever’s surge – Nneka Ogwumike.
Fresh off the buzzer-beater against the Mystics, Ogwumike continued her strong offensive gameplay against the Indiana franchise. She scored a team-high 17 points in the game and, with a three-pointer in the first quarter, the veteran star completed the 700-point mark in the 2025 season. With this, she became only the fourth player in the franchise history to reach the impressive milestone.

Lauren Jackson (739 in the 2007 season), Jewell Lloyd (789 points in the 2023 season), and Breanna Stewart (741 and 742 points in the 2022 and 2019 seasons, respectively) were other stars who made the elite scorers’ list for the franchise.
As of Ogwumike, the 35-year-old player is averaging around 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the 2025 season. She is leading the team in scoring and rebounds.
Odyssey Sims Overshadows Nneka Ogwumike’s Efforts
In the game, the Indiana Fever side looked ‘hungrier’ than their opponents. Coach Stephanie White had to work with ‘hardship-contact players’ throughout the season following multiple injuries. One of those stars is Sims, who played a vital role in a ‘must-win’ game for the Indiana franchise.
She scored a quickfire 22 points in just 28 minutes of play and also recorded six assists on the historic night. Her explosive scoring night didn’t allow opponents a comeback opportunity. Just like Aari McDonald, Odyssey Sims fits in perfectly on the side. She has averaged around 12 points, two rebounds, and four assists per game in the last five fixtures.
