Things need to roll fast within the WNBA. As the CBA deal is taking way too long to conclude, the season is at risk of being scrapped. In order for that to not to happen, Commissioner Cathy Engelbert set a Monday deadline to seal the deal.
However, the fans would be skeptical about the deadline. As previously mentioned, they have already missed as many as four deadlines. Thankfully, as of March 13, reports of real progress were reported on the CBA front. Updating the fans about the latest proceedings, WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike stressed on two important factors that are supposedly hindering the talks.

Nneka Ogwumike Points To Revenue Sharing And Housing As Major Stumbling Blocks
The players’ union and the WNBA have been negotiating for the last five days. Over 50 hours of discussion have yielded 15 proposals exchanged between the two sides. Yet there has been no solution.
And according to Ogwumike, housing and revenue sharing remains two biggest points of dispute. The players have been asking for a 30% revenue share. But then, with the league dismissing it, the union came down to 27.5%. They further slashed it to 26%.
Speaking on the matter, Ogwumike said, “The fact we are here talking about housing shows that we care about every single player—in the same way that we do about revenue share. It’s very important for us to nail those two things down, which is the biggest thing on the agenda today.”
As negotiations stretch into Day 5, WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike told reporters on site revenue share and housing are taking center stage.

Housing, too, had created ripples within the WNBA community. In a recent proposal back in December, the league eliminated the housing facilities for the players. Sending a strong wave of discontent, names like Natasha Cloud criticized the move with strong words.
Meanwhile, taking an active stand in the pay equity fiasco, Ogwumike had some strong words for the NBA commissioner, too.
Nneka Ogwumike ‘Confused’ Following Adam Silver’s Urgency Message

The CBA-WNBA feud has now lasted for eighteen full months. With 2026 hanging in the balance, NBA commissioner Adam Silver decided to get involved. He pushed the players to act with urgency and finish the job quickly. And this made the WNBPA president extremely irritated.
Taking a shot at Silver, the 35-year-old said, “I actually was a little bit confused when Adam [Silver] said that because as players we have certainly had a sense of urgency so much so that we’ve moved a substantial amount on this portion of the agreement that we know is going to allow everything else to fall in place.”
Well, with a Monday deadline looming, fans would want things finally sorted and the formalities underway.
