The Seattle Storm is making some serious noise this season. With the playoffs coming in, the team seems to be peaking at just the right moment. And that’s pretty good news for the fans. More so, because only recently, there were murmurs about Seattle Storm locker altercations reflecting the team’s struggles. Thankfully, now the team looks quite sorted. And as they triumphed over the Washington Mystics recently, Nneka Ogwumike had a major role in her team’s victory.
The Mystics and the Storm have always had some of the closest encounters. And marking their third victory in a row, it was the Seattle-based side who came out on top. And their latest outing was a thrill-ride. With the seconds ticking away, it was Ogwumike’s buzzer-beater that propelled Seattle to an 84-82 victory.
Nneka Ogwumike Puts On A Show As Seattle Storm Push For Playoffs
The star forward has always been a live wire on the court. In a recent game against the Wings, the 35-year-old, Ogwumike, had the fans divided over her on-court wrestle, drawing a flagrant foul. Likewise, the Storm star once again had the WNBA realm talking. But this time, it was due to her stellar performance.

In the last seconds of the game, Ogwumike hit a turnaround, fadeaway jumper from inside the free-throw line. And while the Storm fans stood up in elation, it was an agonizing watch for the Mystics. After all, Washington, too, had been quite impressive with their hoop display. In the final minutes, both teams had offensive surges, scoring a combined 5-for-5 game-tying shots.

Meanwhile, apart from the game-defining moment, the 35-year-old also had a splendid run. She finished with some impressive stats as Ogwumike dropped 30 points and six rebounds. The 35-year-old further impressed with her shooting, with an 11 for 15 stat from the field. Surely, it was one of the brightest performances from the Storm forward. But this was not the first time she had wowed her fans.

Nneka Ogwumike Joins Elite Point Club In Loss To Sparks
Back in early August, the Storm faced off against the Los Angeles Sparks. As the game was pretty evenly contested, it went into overtime. Unfortunately, the Storm could not keep their nerves and fell to an agonizing loss. However, despite the gloomy scenario, one name that stood out was that of Ogwumike. The 35-year-old ruled the court as she dropped 37 points on the night. And with that, the Storm forward was part of an elite point club.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, ESPN reported that Ogwumike now has 7000 points in the WNBA. She became only the sixth player in league history to achieve the feat. The other legendary names that are part of the elite list are Tamika Catchings, Tina Thompson, DeWanna Bonner, Tina Charles, and Diana Taurasi. However, that was not all. Having a sublime game on the night, the 35-year-old also dropped 12 rebounds and four assists during her stay on the court for 46 minutes.
