The Indiana Fever had one of the best seasons in recent times this year. With the likes of Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, and Sydney Colson out of the team, the chances of Fever making it big were pretty slim. Yet, they did manage to get into the semifinals and also gave the Las Vegas Aces a run for their money before bowing out. And one person who helped Indiana achieve the feat was none other than Odyssey Sims.
Sims signed a rest-of-the-season contract with the Fever as key players retired to the bench with injury. Sadly enough, as the season came to an end, Sims had a grim update for the Fever fans. She announced her parting ways with the team as the free agency draws nearer.
Odyssey Sims Pens Emotional Goodbye To Indiana Fever
In a recent Instagram post, Sims elaborated on her future decisions in the WNBA. The Fever star, who had a contract of $78,831, shared moments of her playtime with her Indiana teammates. She also extended her thanks to the Fever front office for putting their trust in her when the team was in a dire strait.

“What a crazy summer, but this was one I will NEVER forget!!!,” she wrote. The most fun I’ve had in a very long time! To my teammates THANK YOU for being so genuine and allowing me to be myself I enjoyed every moment being around everyone!! Indiana THANK YOU for another opportunity and believing in me, regardless of how bad people TRIED to tear me down. You made me feel welcomed and loved from day 1!! THE BEST FANS IN THE LEAGUE! I appreciate all the love and support!!” wrote Sims.
Surely, the 33-year-old had played a crucial role in Fever’s surging play this season. One would immediately remember her impeccable performance in Game 3 of the semifinals against the Aces. Sims dropped 27 points and six assists in the overtime game. Starting in all eight playoff games, the Fever star boasted averages of 14.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Now then, while Sims will no longer don the Fever jersey, is this the end of the road for the 33-year-old?

Odyssey Sims Looks All Set For Her Next Season
Sims might have hung up her Fever jersey. But that does not mean that she will no longer be seen in the WNBA realm. In fact, following her impressive run for Indiana, Sims emerged as a prime target for two WNBA teams. Interestingly, both the extension teams, the Portland Fire and the Toronto Tempo, would love to have Sims’ services in their debut season. The former Fever star, too, hinted at continuing her WNBA journey in her post.

“I’ve been through any and everything these last few years and guess what? I’m STILL HERE! 😎 one thing about me I won’t give up no matter the circumstances🫢🤫 I still got more left in this tank..😎 THANK YOU INDIANA FOR THIS FUN AND UNFORGETTABLE RIDE!! I LOVE Y’ALL!!!! 🫶🏽❤️,” wrote Sims.
