Paige Bueckers’ Dallas Wings have been eliminated from this year’s playoffs. But that does not mean that the team is letting go of all hopes. Preparing for the next season, the Wings are trying hard to salvage their pride with a surge. Unfortunately, while that has not happened yet, the team’s premier star has a message for all her fans. And the 23-year-old borrowed a quote from the NBA legend Stephen Curry to make things clearer.
Wings faced off against the Atlanta Dream recently. And while they were looking for a victory, things turned out quite the opposite. Succumbing once again, the team suffered a 100-78 loss. Surely, while this was utterly disappointing for the fans, Bueckers has a unique message to cheer them up.
Paige Bueckers Takes Cue From Stephen Curry To Give Fans Hope
The 23-year-old has been phenomenal this season. With her impeccable form, Paige Bueckers has outshone Caitlin Clark with a historic rookie record. Playing against the Dream, too, she was sublime as usual. The Rookie of the Year frontrunner dropped a double-double, scoring 16 points and 10 assists. When asked about her message to the fans amidst such a gloomy situation, the former UConn Huskies star pulled off a Stephen Curry.

“I mean, just to stick with it, like, whoever we have in that locker room, whoever puts on a Wings jersey that night, that’s who we’re going to war with. And I remember Steph Curry, before the Warriors became the Warriors, like, he tweeted out, like, ‘just stick with us… We’re gonna figure it out,” said Bueckers.

Surely, such a comment brought back memories from the past. While the Golden State Warriors are a powerhouse currently, they did not achieve their reputation overnight. Back in 2009, when Stephen Curry was vested with the responsibility of transforming the team, he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Promise to all the Warrior fans…we will figure this thing out…if it’s the last thing we do we will figure it out.” Surely, this is a brave thing to do for Bueckers. However, with the teams struggling to defend her, the 23-year-old shared the secret to her success.

Paige Bueckers Shares Why Teams Struggle To Defend Her
The former Huskies star has been taking the WNBA by storm. Playing in her rookie year, she is bringing back memories of Caitlin Clark. In fact, in a recently released 25 Under 25 list from ESPN, Bueckers has been named as the second-best WNBA athlete under the age of 25. Now then, her highlight of the season was surely the 44-point game against the Sparks. And as her opponents struggled, the 23-year-old revealed the secret to her success.

“It’s a lot of repetition in practice. And learning and growing, watching film of how you can get to your spots, how you can attack, how you can use your teammates screening for you, attacking in transition and when teams switch on screens. Just reading the possession. I truly think basketball has gotten away from it — it’s mostly layups and 3s. Teams don’t know how to guard it. So I think it’s an advantage when you can score in the midrange,” Bueckers told reporters.
Surely, with the form Bueckers is in, she is definitely a star in the making. Thus, with things looking bright for the 23-year-old, fans now wait to see whether she can become the Stephen Curry of the Dallas Wings.
