The Dallas Wings are looking to make use of the first overall pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, expecting a player of similar impact to that of their 2025 top pick, Paige Bueckers. The player made a significant impact on the league, winning the Rookie of the Year award.
Apart from the league’s accolades, the star also won many honors outside the league. Bueckers was also the Outsports’ Female Athlete of the Year after a historic Dallas Wings rookie season. With that, the star also earned another accolade from the USA Today magazine.
Paige Bueckers Earns Special Honor From USA Today
As women’s sports gain more attention, Forbes has started a series featuring the most powerful women in US Sports. While Caitlin Clark topped the list in the recent USA Today ranking, she was not even in the top 10.
Instead, the A’ja Wilson topped the USA Today’s list with Bueckers following her at the third position and Napheesa Collier taking the fifth spot. For PB, the magazine highlights her prolific season with UConn, including being the first overall pick and winning the Rookie of the Year accolade.
Bueckers told USA TODAY Sports she recently had the opportunity to catch her breath and process her achievements and what’s ahead: “On my birthday (on Oct. 20), I reflected on the year 23 itself and how much of a journey it was. I stayed the most present and it ended up being one of the most fun, joyful, just peaceful years of my life. Just embracing everything that kind of came my way.”
