In the off-season, Paige Bueckers attended every Texas franchise game, showing her love for college football, the NBA, and the NFL. She insisted on showing support to Texas teams, but when it came to the NCAA Women’s basketball, her heart went out to UConn – her alma mater.
After spending five years in the program, the star made a massive impact on the Connecticut side. For her accomplishments and influence, Bueckers was honored as one of the top 30 NCAA Women of the Year standouts. And on the 2025-26 season opener, she was in the stands for her team.
Paige Bueckers Reflects On Attending The UConn Huskies Game
Initial venue for the UConn vs Louisville game was the Ramstein Air Base in southwestern Germany. But the game moved to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Despite relocation, the Dallas Wings’ superstar found her way into the stands as she sat in the UConn family box.

After the first quarter, Bueckers stepped down onto the court level and spoke with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, “[It’s] definitely weird, definitely a surreal feeling of just being in a different position and watching from a different perspective. Not being yelled at when a UConn game is on, it’s all a different vibe. But I’m very happy to be here and I’m very excited to watch,” Bueckers said on attending the UConn game as a spectator.
UConn won its season opener, and the former guard was happy with the gameplay, remembering the situations a season ago. The country’s top side is once again the favorite to lift the title, and no one would be prouder of that than Buckers.

Though it was a season opener game for PB’s alma mater, the Dallas Wings set their eyes on three dynamic targets to bolster the backcourt behind Paige Bueckers, which includes a player from UConn.
Paige Bueckers Could Team Up With Azzi Fudd
Ever since St. John’s High School prodigy joined UConn, her connection with Bueckers hit it off. Both talented stars maintained good chemistry and understanding both on and off the court, making them an inseparable pair. Though the 2025 rookie’s selection by the Wings separated them for a year, the franchise could reunite them by picking Fudd as it’s top pick.
Interestingly, after back-to-back poor records, the Texas team could well be the frontrunner for the number 1 pick on the draft night, handing them an opportunity to reunite Fudd and Bueckers.
While all these will be ‘possibilities’, right now, the 23-year-old star has Jose Fernandes as her HC. Geno Auriemma hailed Jose Fernandez as a perfect fit for Paige Bueckers.
