Now, after having conquered the WNBA and the Unrivaled, the UConn Huskies star is ready for the next level. Donning the prestigious USA jersey, she wants to have a close relationship with another basketball legend, Sue Bird.
Paige Bueckers Is Enjoying Sue Bird’s Company
Winning WNBA championships and being a 13-time WNBA All-Star is not a matter of joke. Especially at a time when women’s basketball was suffering from a lack of exposure. Thus, it is nothing surprising why upcoming players would look up to Bird as their idol.
Honored to be wearing the Team USA jersey, Bueckers now wants to learn more from the greats. In a recent conversation with FIBA.basketball, the former UConn Huskies star looked pretty impressed with having Bird around at the national camp.
“And for her to be around the team, having all the experience that she has, having the voice that she has, and the leader that she is. She’s a great person to learn from and lean on for experience,” said Bueckers.

“Yeah, I did say that to her last camp. She likes talking sh**, so I appreciate that — that’s the type of vocal that I like. Paige has really demonstrated that she can be a connector, and it’s about bringing that out of her,” said Bird.
