The Dallas Wings might be in a rebuild phase, but the franchise has a promising generational talent in Paige Bueckers on its roster. The side is looking to assemble a team capable of pushing for playoffs in its first season with PB and even bring in Chris Koclanes as its head coach.
Sadly, fans have not seen the coach’s impact on the games. They even jibed at the first-year head coach. A video surfaced online highlighting how players do not take his plays seriously. More importantly, the leading scorer seemed less interested.
Paige Bueckers’ Hilarious Reaction To Chris Koclanes’ Play Call
The Wings travelled to Chase Center for a regular-season game against the expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries. The hosts had been in great form despite their first season in the league, while the Wings failed to live up to expectations. In the fourth quarter, the visitors were down by six points with five minutes remaining in the game.
It was a chance to make a comeback and a strong statement with a win. Coach Koclanes called a timeout and tried explaining to his offensive stars a play to maximize the opportunity. Arike Ogunbowale looked confused with his explanations, while the 2025 rookie did not look interested in the briefing.

The video quickly went viral as many fans again bashed the HC and his hold on the locker room. His side lost the game 86-76 in the end, with the 22-year-old star leading the scorers with 17 points and Ogunbowale providing support, scoring 16 points.
Paige Bueckers On An Exceptional Rookie Season Run
Caitlin Clark’s 2024 rookie season was one of the memorable entries to the WNBA. But the former UConn star is also matching up with her numbers. She levelled with CC’s record for 300 points and 100 assists. She is also leading the scorers for the Wings and earned an All-Star selection in her first season.

With her All-Star selection, the young guard set a record, with Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, as the highest number of rookies making the All-Star games since 2012. Averaging around 18 points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals per game, the Wings guard is also the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year accolade.
The coach needs to take advantage of her impressive individual season. With players like Ogunbowale and DeJonai Carrington on the roster, the side can still push for a top-8 finish.
