Paige Bueckers is looking like a woman on a mission. After taking the WNBA realm by storm, the 2025 Rookie of the Year is also proving her worth in Unrivaled. Featuring in the top 5 scorers’ list, her average points per game is just a tad under 24. And owing to all of her incredible antics, the UConn star is making a strong case for herself to win the 2026 Unrivaled MVP of the Year.
However, despite emerging as the next big star in the league, Bueckers still hasn’t forgotten her roots, the UConn Huskies. And recently, when one of her ex-teammates returned to the ‘Basketball capital of the world,’ the 23-year-old star could not help but get excited.

Paige Bueckers is Excited To See Aaliyah Edwards Return To UConn
Of all the shining stars that Huskies have produced, Aaliayah Edwards’ name will be right there at the top. Following her stint in the NCAA, Edwards had an excellent time in the WNBA. Drafted as the sixth overall pick back in 2024, the former Huskies star joined the Washington Mystics. Following her brief stint in Washington, Edwards joined the Connecticut Sun in August 2025.
The 23-year-old recently had a moment of pride as she came back to her roots for a very special occasion. Inducted into the Huskies of Honor. And looking at such a sight, Bueckers became all hyped up as she celebrated the occasion.
“Liliiiii Day!!!!” wrote Bueckers, taking to her Instagram story.

Not only Bueckers, but the Huskies’ head coach, Geno Auriemma, too, had some significant words of praise. Hailing Edwards and others, Auriemma said, “That group that came, Paige [Bueckers], Nika [Mühl], Aaliyah [Edwards], obviously, they had a huge impact as a group, and they all kinda did it, together sometimes, individually sometimes.”
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old not only hype up her former connections. Her current teammates, too, have a lot of good words to say about her.
Dominique Malonga Hails Paige Bueckers’ Impact
Malonga recently took the Unrivaled world by storm. Dropping a thundering dunk, the Breeze BC star is having a great time excelling in the Unrivaled. However, speaking about her stellar performance, Malonga revealed the driving force behind her A-game.
“It’s been amazing. She’s a great playmaker, she sees the floor very well — I just have to be ready anytime because I know with her, I can get that ball all the time,” Malonga said about Bueckers.
Thus, with things looking rosy, Bueckers will now aim to raise her stock as the new season of the WNBA arrives.
