Paige Bueckers Makes WNBA History During Wings vs Mystics Game
When the UConn star entered the W, she was compared to Caitlin Clark. The 2024 Rookie of the Year winner set multiple records in the league in her first season, which was one of the iconic rookie seasons in the WNBA. However, the Wings’ guard also had similar potential, which she already showed in her college career.
With her elite gameplay, she nearly matched CC’s most records and even surpassed a few. In a recent game against the Washington Mystics, the Dallas star scored 17 points with three assists and three rebounds, taking her season tally to 463 points, 133 assists, and 100 rebounds. With this, she became the fastest player to score 450+ points, 100+ assists, and 100+ rebounds.

Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron were also top picks in the 2025 WNBA draft. Both were perfect challengers for the Wings’ star’s Rookie of the Year accolade, and they have been very consistent in the league so far. Citron, in particular, gave her side a competitive edge in many games with her elite shooting and playmaking abilities.

In the game against the Dallas Wings, Iriafen and Citron made significant contributions to their side’s victory. The Notre Dame guard scored 18 points and provided six assists. Iriafen led the team in scoring with 23 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. This was her ninth double-double of the season.
The Wings’ inability to support their star player led to their 24th loss of the season. In the rookies’ season conversation, though, Iriafen won the Rookie of the Month award in May. Bueckers won the accolades in June and July, making a strong push for the ROTY award.
