There is hardly any offensive record that Paige Bueckers doesn’t have in the 2025 season. She was the fastest player to score 500 points and 150 assists in the league and also set a record for the most points by a rookie in a single game. The 22-year-old lived up to every expectation, but the Dallas Wings failed on their part.
Now, with the team’s poor performance this season, the guard is on the verge of setting an unwanted record.
Dallas Wings Could Hand Paige Bueckers An Unwanted Record
Fresh from the NCAA title run, the UConn star was the star of the WNBA draft. The Wings had the top pick and wasted no time selecting PB as their top pick. Right from Cathy Engelbert’s announcement, the youngster was the Rookie of the Year winner in many people’s eyes.

Fans even compared her to Caitlin Clark, who had a historic season with the Indiana Fever a season ago. Overcoming CC’s record-breaking rookie season was a massive task, but Paige Bueckers outshone Clark’s first season, delivering another mesmerizing rookie season for the fans.
Now, like the Fever guard, Paige Bueckers is all set to win the Rookie of the Year award. But this could also make her a part of an unwanted history.
The Wings have had just nine wins this season, recording their second-worst season (after 2024) in the league since relocating from Tulsa. If the side fails to win more than one game in the remaining six fixtures, PB could end her inaugural season as the Rookie of the Year winner with the worst team record in the league.

Dallas Wings Lack Consistency To Complement Paige Bueckers’ Historic Season
The debate for the Rookie of the Year is nearly settled, with the first overall pick outshining the other draft class members by a huge margin. Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen, and Dominique Malonga came close to challenging the Wings’ guard’s throne, but a recent scoring spree put PB at the top spot for the award.
While her individual brilliance put her among the league’s elite, the team failed to support her in the games. Top players like Arike Ogunbowale and DiJonai Carrington were not consistent on the floor, resulting in multiple losses.
The Golden State Warriors’ forward, Draymond Green, recently pointed out that the team is holding on to the wrong pieces to complement the generational superstar. With PB still under contract for three more seasons with the Wings, the front office needs to act fast to keep her on the roster for a longer period.
