Fans at the Crypto.com arena were stunned, fearing the team would fall behind in the playoff race with a loss against the Dallas Wings. Experienced Kelsey Plum bailed the team out with a floater that proved to be the winner, but the night belonged to 22-year-old Paige Buecker.
The Waings’ guard not only set a record for the most points in a single game by a rookie but also kept her side in the hunt for a dramatic win. Her massive score also handed her another milestone as she is now in line to set an impressive record in her first season.
Paige Bueckers Surpasses Cynthia Cooper For Most Consecutive Double-Digit Scoring
The 2025 rookie took control of the ball game against the LA Sparks team in the iconic Crypto.com Arena. The clinical scorer netted a record 44 points with 17-of-21 shooting. This was her 29th double-digit scoring game in the league. Interestingly, the efficient scorer played in 29 games for the side, keeping her record 100% for 10+ score in matchups.

With this, she also surpassed Cynthia Cooper for the third most consecutive double-digit scoring games as a rookie in the league.
A’ja Wilson tops the list with 33 such games, while Candace Parker takes second spot with 32 games. The Wings’ guard has nine more remaining games in the 2025 season. With her current form, Paige Bueckers could break Wilson’s record in a game against the Minnesota Lynx on September 1.

Her competitor on the floor, Cameron Brink, also couldn’t help but say a few good words, “She’s a phenomenal player. Point blank period.” Defensively strong Cam couldn’t stop the former UConn star and sportingly accepted Bueckers’ phenomenal range and play. PB’s former teammate DiJonai Carrington showed love with “40 ball P!!!?” post while Arike Ogunbowale declared her teammate Rookie of the Year.
With her recent performances, the star might overtake her closest ROY rival Sonia Citron for the illustrious accolade.
