Back in 2024, when Caitlin Clark took the WNBA realm by storm as a rookie, very few anticipated that it was just the beginning of rookie dominance. As 2025 dawned upon us, the WNBA fans got yet another rookie superstar in Paige Bueckers.
Playing some incredible basketball throughout the season, Bueckers was honored as a Top 30 NCAA Woman of the Year Standout. Unfortunately, despite her excellent outing, her team, the Dallas Wings, had one of the worst seasons.
Thus, trying to rebuild from scratch, the Wings are putting in a lot of effort before the start of the next season. Likewise, Bueckers, too, dropped an interesting update from her offseason.
Paige Bueckers Gets To The Grind Right Away
The Wings star was surely one of the highlights of the season. But as per her latest updates, it does not look like the 23-year-old is spending her offseason in a leisurely manner. As Bueckers was named the 2025 Rookie of the Year, she is looking to level up significantly before the next season.

Bueckers recently suited up for the UConn women’s basketball team and had a go with the male practice squad. As UConn posted the moments on Instagram, the Wings’ star swiftly reshared the same to her Instagram story.

Expressing her elation after the practice season, Bueckers wrote, “My boys,” as she posed with the entire squad. Surely, such a face-off benefited both teams. While Bueckers’ extreme competitive spirit and elite WNBA experience tested the Huskies squad, the rookie star, too, sweated it out, keeping herself fit in the offseason.
Meanwhile, with the Wings going for a complete roster shakeup, Geno Auriemma wants Bueckers to have a significant say.
Geno Auriemma Gives A Bold Take On Paige Bueckers’ Role With Dallas Wings
Auriemma has known Bueckers for a long time now. It was under her able guidance that the 23-year-old became a generational talent for UConn. Thus, since the Wings will likely shake up their roster this season, Auriemma believes Bueckers should have considerable freedom in choosing her teammates.

“And it’s like recruiting. Recruit the person you want who has the qualities. But at the end of the day, whoever the coach is, you can make it work for them, or you can make it not work for them, provided there’s a good roster around you. So I think the roster is gonna be more important than the coach, even though the coach is crucial, obviously,” Auriemma added.
Surely, fans expect a lot from Bueckers in the upcoming season. And by the looks of it, the rookie star, too, is eager to up the ante.
