The Dallas Wings might have a General Manager in the front office, but their star player is doing plenty of the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
Following a rather struggling season campaign, Paige Bueckers isn’t taking the offseason off. According to GM Curt Miller, the young guard has already stepped into a major leadership role.
As per Miller, Bueckers is actively helping shape the roster for 2026 rather than just waiting to see who shows up at training camp.

Wings GM Curt Miller Was All Praise For Paige Bueckers Involvement
Miller spoke to the media recently and didn’t hide the fact that Bueckers is intimately involved in the team’s future.
He described her as a “unifier” for the organization, someone who bridges the gap between the coaching staff and the locker room.
“Paige will be a unifier, someone players want to play with. Our young core will make us attractive, too. Players will see these young, great teammates and think, ‘That’s our second unit, I want to be a part of that,’” he said.

For Miller, this is a massive asset as Dallas hasn’t historically been the first choice for marquee free agents, but having a star like Bueckers personally making the pitch changes the equation.
“Paige wants to be involved in recruiting players to Dallas. Arike also initiates free agency conversations with me. It’s exciting that your two best players consistently want to talk future,” Miller added.
Miller believes that her “team-first” reputation and willingness to recruit will be the deciding factor in convincing veterans to sign with the Wings.
What’s In There For Paige Bueckers After Wings Win Top Pick In 2026 WNBA Draft
The recruiting pitch just got a lot stronger last week. With the Wings winning the WNBA Draft Lottery for the second straight year, they now hold the No. 1 overall pick in 2026.
For Bueckers, this asset is the key to unlocking the next level of her career. And the most obvious scenario is a reunion.
Mock drafts and analysts are already linking the Wings to Azzi Fudd, Bueckers’ former UConn teammate and close friend.
Drafting Fudd would give Bueckers a trusted “splash sister” on the perimeter and instant on-court chemistry that usually takes years to build.
