The Dallas Wings had a long season to remember. After their early exit from the WNBA playoff race, they fired coach Chris Koclanes. While the move was unexpected, social media fans noticed the same Paige Buckers connection to Koclanes’ firing.
While there were a few queues to connect with the Wings’ breakout rookie sensation, it did not bother the broader audience. However, as cameras caught her, Bueckers traded basketball courts for college football stands this weekend.
Paige Bueckers Seen Cheering For Colorado Vs. TCU
On a breezy Saturday night, the UConn alum ditched all the weekend outing plans and pulled up at Amon G. Carter Stadium as Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes faced TCU. With her WNBA debut season in the rearview mirror, Bueckers enjoyed a front-row seat to the Buffs’ 2-3 season effort.

Soon after the game was done and dusted, her loyal fans on social media caught a glimpse of their star rookie rocking a striped shirt while waiving her hands to hype up the team she was supporting. However, this off-field appearance comes after a wonderful rookie season with the Dallas Wings.

The timing aligns with the WNBA Finals tipping off, but Bueckers’ focus shifted to supporting Sanders, a former NFL star and her UConn coach Geno Auriemma’s friend. Meanwhile, her Wings teammate Li Yueru’s Unrivaled League commitment promises a collaborative offseason, setting the stage for Bueckers’ next chapter.

Paige Bueckers Heading An Eventful Offseason
While she kicked off the shenanigans a bit early, Bueckers’ offseason is shaping up with purpose, starting with her Unrivaled League role. As an investor and face of the 3-on-3 league, she will also join Wings center Li Yueru.
Yueru, acquired midseason for a 2026 second-round pick (No. 16 overall) and a 2027 third, averaged 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 22 games before an ACL sprain. Her Unrivaled stint, potentially alongside Bueckers, looks promising and adds weight to Dallas’ intent to retain her as depth.
However, the Wings face a free-agent exodus with 10 players, including Arike Ogunbowale and Myisha Hines-Allen, after a dismal 10-34 season. However, GM Curt Miller remains optimistic about building around Bueckers, with a 40% shot at the 2026 No. 1 pick and $1.3 million cap space.
