NBA 2K introduced a feature that enables WNBA and NBA players to compete against each other, as well as on the same team, in a new mode. While it’s a game feature, that doesn’t mean humans can’t incorporate it in the real world.
The Dallas Wings got to see Paige Bueckers in action again, as the city hosted the Wellball tournament, featuring games against NBA stars. A few days ago, the Wellball VIP League event announced Paige Bueckers’ participation, which is one of the unique basketball competitions.
Sonia Citron joined the star in the new format of the game, while there were a few former NBA stars on the court as well. After the match-up, Stephin Marbury, a Former NBA All-Star and participant in the league, had some words for SC and PB.

Stephon Marbury Praised Paige Bueckers And Sonia Citron
The WNBA has had many impactful rookies in recent years, with the 2025 draft class being a particularly deep one so far. Paige Bueckers’ stellar season earns her top spot on the 2025 WNBA All-Rookie Team alongside Sonia Citron and others. While both shone on the WNBA Courts, they didn’t fail on the ‘Wellball’ tournament, too.
Marbury talked highly about the duo and said, “So I’m walking with a limp, and I’m not talking about my legs, my legs feel good. But we got crushed by Paige Bueckers and Sonia Citron and Charlie V (Charlie Villanueva), Monta (Ellis) and Josh Howard.”

“They just smashed us. They just start making shots like pros. Swish, swish, swish. And these guys ain’t even work out. Wellball. It was crazy,” Marbury added.
The primary recent event was in Dallas on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with both WNBA rookies playing in the league for the first time. But that didn’t stop the guard pair from taking over the competition, and as the former Knicks star mentioned, ‘cook the opposition’.
The duo were the star rookies of the 2025 season, with Citron finishing as runners-up to the Bueckers’ Rookie of the Year award. While they fired up the Wellball tournament, they will share the floor more than once before the start of the next season.
Sonia Citron And Paige Bueckers Sharing Courts Once Again
The Wellball announced the Wings’ guard’s participation, while Citron’s participation was a bonus for the fans. Now, apart from the new and innovative basketball, the duo will participate in the Unrivalled league, headlining multiple rookies entering the 3-on-3 competitive tournament, starting from January 5.

While they will be on opposite teams at the Unrivalled, they could team up for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in April and already have an invitation for the three-day training camp starting from December 12.
The skilled and talented rookies seem to have a packed schedule till the start of the season, and the good thing about it is that both are enjoying each other’s company, in a team or on opposite teams.
