Paige Bueckers is a name that has become well known this year in the WNBA. Playing in her rookie season, the Dallas Wings’ star is hinting at a future face of the WNBA status. Showing immaculate skills, Bueckers has already pushed past 400 points. However, just like how even the best athletes have a weakness, the 23-year-old too, have struggled with a key aspect.
Bueckers has been the only shining light amidst a dark season for the Wings so far. Despite consecutive losses, the rookie has stood tall and regularly chipped in with some valuable points. But looking at one recent stat, it looks like Bueckers surely have room for improvement.
Paige Bueckers Has Faltered Significantly In Three Point Shooting
Three point shooting has become an integral part of modern day basketball. With the likes of Stephen Curry and LeBron James leading the way, the trend has come into the WNBA as well. Take for example the WNBA All-Star game. It received a lot of criticism for players trying to shoot from the three and four point range, allegedly making the game boring. Surprisingly, this is one aspect that Paige Bueckers does not seem to have mastery over yet.
In a recent update from ‘Polymarket Hoops,’ the 23-year-old has been found to have the lowest three-point shooting percentage. The data showed that Bueckers is shooting a mere 16.7% from the three-point line in crunch situations. Further analyzing her play, Bueckers has registered only 2 for 12 from the three-point range.

In fact, with a 16.7% shooting, Bueckers is leading the charts in terms of shooting the fewest three-pointers. Sami Whitcomb and Rhyne Howard are in second and third positions with percentages of 20.0% and 30.8% respectively. Meanwhile, barring the statistics, Bueckers has been on a roll this season. And giving her the flowers, the Dallas Mavericks’ CEO has words of praise for the 23-year-old.
Paige Bueckers Gets Compared To Cailin Clark
Caitlin Clark made some radical changes in the WNBA last year. Coming into the league, which was almost dying, Clark injected new life. The WNBA has been growing exponentially since then. And now, carrying forward the legacy of Clark, Paige Bueckers too, is making a statement in her rookie year. Elated to see such growth, Dallas Mavericks’ CEO Rick Welts, has heaped praises on the duo.

“I love everything that’s happening right now. This isn’t something that just happened. And I’m so happy for the players, executives, and coaches who for 28 years have built a foundation that has allowed Clark and Bueckers to come in now and spark the interest and enthusiasm surrounding the WNBA,” Welt said in an interview.
Thus, with things looking quite rosy, fans cannot wait to see how she continues.
