Records for Paige Bueckers keep on coming. The Dallas Wings were high on their win over the New York Liberty, and looked for another giant kill as they played against the Atlanta Dream on July 31. Sadly, the third-placed side had too much firepower and recorded an 88-85 win at the College Park Center.
The former UConn player put her side close to victory with a scintillating performance. Even though she ended up on the losing side, she tied a 28-year standing record in her rookie season.
Paige Bueckers Levels Cynthia Cooper’s WNBA Record
In the opening season of the league, Cynthia Cooper was a scoring maestro for the Houston Comets. The USC star played just four full seasons in the league and won four WNBA titles with four finals MVP awards, a record that might be hard to match right now by any player. But PB matched her in one illustrious record that stood for 28 years.
The 2025 first-round pick led the side with 21 points and seven assists against the Atlanta Dream. With that, she completed 400 points and 100 assists in just 22 games. This is the fastest any WNBA player reached this tally, and the only other player to do so was Cynthia Cooper in as many games.
Despite her efforts, Naz Hillmon’s clutch three-pointer and career-high 21-point output helped the visitors record a close win. Superstar Brittney Griner received two technical fouls in the game and could face suspension for her aggressive behavior.
For the Wings, there was no push from any other stars. Arike Ogunbowale and Haley Jones scored 12 points each but had a rough shooting night. Luisa Geiselsoder was the second-highest scorer with 13 points and four rebounds.

Paige Bueckers Is The Most Consistent Player In The WNBA
This is not the first time PB has tried to take care of the business for the Texas franchise. Her addition was seen as a significant upgrade in all departments for the side, and she lived up to the expectations. Currently leading the team in four different primary stats, the 2025 NCAA champion averages around 9 points, five rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block.

The consistent star currently has 23 games with double-digit scores and is a strong candidate for the Rookie of the Year accolade. Breaking and matching records in her rookie season highlights her impact on Chris Koclanes’ team.
The Wings team could not capitalize on the talent they drafted in 2025. Inconsistency from vets like Ogunbowale and DiJonai Carrington made it difficult to close the games in their favor. They stand 11th in the league with an 8-21 record and are virtually out of playoff contention.
