Paige Bueckers is getting all the limelight at the moment. Playing in her rookie season, the Dallas Wings’ star is making merry on the hardwood. Despite Wings not being able to put on a great show, her individual efforts have caught the eyes of. Unfortunately, everything is not all merry for the 23-year-old.
While they faced off against the Indiana Fever, Bueckers was at her usual best. She chimed in with 22 points, while her team succumbed to a 78-88 loss. And in the midst of all this, the officials drew the 23-year-old into a controversy.
Fans Call Out Paige Bueckers for Avoiding Ejection After Pressuring Officials
Bueckers is getting all the flak for her recent conduct towards a referee. The incident took place late in the game, which already was pretty much physical. The 23-year-old beat Sophie Cunningham on a drive, and immediately expressed her frustrations. She expressed frustration that the officials let Cunningham off without a foul.
However, what followed next was pretty bizarre. Instead of verbally protesting, Bueckers rushed towards the officials aggressively. She also mimicked Cunningham and perhaps made contact as well. Soon, as the videos circulated online, fans became overly critical. They openly questioned why the Wings’ rookie escaped ejection after making contact with the officials.

Now, this incident immediately brought back memories of Brittney Griner. Just a few weeks back, Griner faced ejection during the Phoenix Mercury and Atlanta Dream game. Officials punished her even though Griner had made only minimal contact while protesting a call. Surely, the fans immediately lashed out at Bueckers on social media.

As soon as the video went viral, fans flocked to the comments section. And while Bueckers might have impressed with her performance, fans are letting her off the hook following her alleged offense.
