The term “Indiami” came into existence with the Miami-like fun in Indiana. All this was because of the recent WNBA All-Star weekend, with fans pouring in from all over the place. The players took the opportunity to highlight their stand on the CBA negotiations with “Pay Us What You Owe Us” warm-up T-shirts. Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, and every player wore the symbolic outfit.
It grabbed the attention they needed, and now everyone is once again talking about the ‘pays’. Fans in the arena showed their support. A few analysts also took the topic on board. Pat McAfee also chipped in with his views on the players’ salaries.
Pat McAfee Shows Support for Caitlin Clark and WNBPA
Players’ protest headlined the All-Star game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena. Even though the game went smoothly and everyone had fun, the start and end were more about player payments. Hoopers took a stand for a pay raise, while fans also held slogans, “Pay the Players.” League commissioner Cathy Engelbert had to pause her speech and address the issue in the end, too.
Showing support to CC and co, McAfee broke down the math. The former NFL star gave some advice regarding the narrative around the league’s losses over the years and investors not getting their returns.
“If we’re already losing $40 million, could you not just bump [the players’ salaries] up to at least six figures? $70,000 as a paycheck is a very—that’s an embarrassment. Especially for Caitlin Clark and all these people in professional sports. If you just add $30,000 to each one of them, get that up to over $100,000. That’s another like $4.6 million, so you’re $44.6 million this way, there has to be $4 million you can find somewhere in here that you can give up to give the players at least a little more money,” McAfee said on his podcast (Via X/@PatMcAfeeShow).
He mentioned that the league charges $70,000 for CC’s single game and ironically pays her the exact amount for the entire season.

Before the start of the 2025 season, Angel Reese famously mentioned that her rookie contract can’t even cover her bills. The WNBPA confirmed they are ready to sit out if their demands are unmet. The current CBA deal ends at the end of this season, and with each passing day, the time is slipping away from the authorities’ hands.
Caitlin Clark And WNBA Players’ Demands In The CBA
WNBA players, including the Fever superstar, advocate for better pay and revenue sharing in the upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations with the league. A primary focus is on changing the current revenue-sharing model. Players currently only receive below 10% of the league’s revenue-sharing profits if specific performance targets are met. In contrast, the NBA players receive roughly 50% of the league’s total revenue.

In addition, there’s interest in exploring changes to the rigid hard cap system. This will allow teams to have flexibility in their budgets and absorb top-quality players. The association is also looking to improve the player experience through enhanced support.
However, not all demands are pending so far in the current discussions. The parties have agreed on family planning and post-retirement provisions.
