The Phoenix Mercury have long been in the league. They are currently one of the WNBA’s original eight franchises and have been active since 1997.
Though there have been recent controversies around their veteran Alyssa Thomas joining rival league Project B, the team has moreover been one of the top contenders.
Now, as the league approaches its 30th season in 2026, the organization is making sure the vibe matches the milestone. So the Mercury has officially unveiled a complete rebrand to kick off the anniversary celebration.

While most other WNBA teams are busy with the 2026 WNBA Draft lottery anticipation, the Mercury are looking at things very differently.
And the timing for their recent rebranding couldn’t be perfect. However, the rebrand, revealed just ahead of the offseason, introduces a sleek, modernized logo system and an updated color palette.

While the team remains committed to its iconic purple and orange roots, the new design strips away the gradients and bevels typical of 1990s aesthetics.
What they now have is a cleaner, minimal overall design with a bolder ‘planet’ emblem that emphasizes the team’s name and speed.

Additionally, this offseason venture allows players to earn significant salaries and stay in elite shape without the wear and tear of overseas travel.
Headlining the Mercury’s involvement is center Brittney Griner, who will compete on U.S. soil this winter. She is joined by All-Star guard Kahleah Copper and forward Satou Sabally, ensuring that Phoenix’s core remains active and competitive during the break.
