DeWanna Bonner and the Phoenix Mercury are coming off a loss against the Indiana Fever. Despite putting up a strong fight, the Fever triumphed with a 107-101 final score. As for Bonner, it was her first game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse since she was traded from Indiana.
The Mercury forward parted ways with the team last month. Despite having a brief stint with the team, Bonner had fond memories but never received a warm welcome at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Fever fans erupted with boos while she entered the court.
Kahleah Copper Calls Out Indiana Fever Fans Over DeWanna Bonner’s Boos
Bonner’s teammate Kahleah Copper lashed out at Indiana Fever fans after the game. Kahleah called their behavior distasteful and mentioned that Bonner handled the situation well. She was also unhappy for fans to boo a player like DeWanna Bonner after all she has done in the league.
“I think she handled it well, I just don’t understand she’s a legend and all the things she has done for the league. And just to disrespect I can’t get down with it. They booed her, she didn’t say a word to the crowd. People talked some trash to her, but we had her back, but it’s just very distasteful for what their fanbase is doing as far as when it comes to DB. She’s just the sweetest soul and the situation didn’t work for her and that’s just not what she wanted or whatever, but we don’t need all of that,’ it’s unnecessary,” Kahleah Copper said.

Some fans can be pretty vocal about their feelings. However, it’s rather strange when it comes to DeWanna Bonner. The veteran guard played only nine games for the Indiana Fever. It was her shortest stint with her team in her career.

“I don’t know anything about the reception. I don’t hear anything once I’m out on the floor. But, you know, it’s weird seeing her on the other side,” White said.

DeWanna Bonner took the booing in a sportive manner and tossed in four points in just 21 minutes of gameplay. She also recorded one rebound in their loss.
