Atlanta Dream already cemented contender status after victory over Minnesota Lynx. Marching forward with resilience, the Dream is looking like a tough challenger for the title aspirants this year. Interestingly, the team has beaten two of the biggest contenders this season. While they got the better of the Minnesota Lynx, the Dream also secured a historic win over the defending champions, the New York Liberty. Meanwhile, facing off against the Dallas Wings, the Dream soared via Rhyne Howard’s incredible performance.
Atlanta was phenomenal in their approach against the Dallas Wings. Already playing a depleted side, Wings looked lacklustre as Howard and co. rampaged to a 100-78 win. Soon after the game, celebrations began among the fans. However, the spotlight was solely taken up by Howard.
Rhyne Howard Shines As Atlanta Dream Seals Playoff Spot
The 25-year-old looked like a bolt from the blue on the court. Playing for 37 minutes on the night, the Dream star stacked up the stat sheet. Helping her team secure a playoff spot, the former Kentucky Wildcats star dropped 24 points, five assists, and four rebounds. And that was not all.

Howard also chipped in with six blocks and a steal to make the game a memorable affair for her. Meanwhile, with her all-around efforts on full display, the 25-year-old became part of WNBA history. The 2022 WNBA Rookie of the Year became the third WNBA player to drop 20-plus points, five-plus 3-pointers, and five or more blocks in the same game. And that was not all.

Karl Smesko Wants Atlanta Dream To Be Consistent As Rhyne Howard Makes Merry
Rhyne Howard is not the only good thing happening to the Atlanta Dream at the moment. Coming back from her neck injury, Brittney Griner jumped To the 17th Spot On WNBA All-Time rebounding list. Now, things are looking pretty rosy for Atlanta, coach Karl Smesko does not want the momentum to shift. And thus, he wants his team to show consistency. He pointed out that since the games come up pretty fast, it becomes all the more important to keep their focus intact.

“Well, hopefully the fan base sounds like they’re enjoying themselves. So, you know, hopefully we can keep it going and keep getting better. I think most people can see that, when we have it really going, we’re a top-level team in the league. But the thing is, to be able to do that consistently is the next step. Like, and that’s really the challenge because these games come up so fast,” said Smesko.
At the moment, Dream is sitting pretty at the third spot on the WNBA table. And with their form looking immaculate, fans would be eager to watch what happens next.
