The MVP awards have just been announced. And without any surprises, A’ja Wilson clinched the MVP award for a record four times. Interestingly, this year’s MVP award was not as straightforward as the previous year’s. Apart from Wilson, the competition included Alyssa Thomas and Napheesa Collier among the probable contenders. Surprisingly enough, when the full list was released recently, a startling revelation was made. It was found out that Rickea Jackson has also been included in the MVP list!
The Los Angeles Sparks had a heartbreak. Despite playing some impressive basketball, the Sparks missed out on the playoffs by a whisker. But still, it looks like the fans and critics utterly enjoyed the regular season’s display. That led to her MVP inclusion, which made Jackson gasp with anticipation.
Rickea Jackson Is 5th In The List Of The WNBA MVP
In a recent report from USA Today Sports, Jackson was surprised to see her name appear on the list. Meghan L. Hall shared the list, which showed that the Sparks star had been voted the fifth choice for the MVP awards. Reacting to the same, the Sparks star made sure to express her amazement at how someone voted her as a probable MVP.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter account, Jackson posted a hilarious message, trying to know who voted her as a potential MVP. “Who I need to take to dinner???,” wrote Jackson. Meanwhile, Jackson was not the only one to receive an MVP vote. Her fellow teammate, Dearica Hamby too, got a vote from a fan who wanted to see a new MVP.

Rickea Jackson Lauds Kelsey Plum For Her High IQ
Now then, Jackson has not only performed well in the regular season. But she has also not forgotten to ensure that she lifts up her teammates. Back in early August, the Sparks went up against the Indiana Fever. And with the likes of Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham missing, Los Angeles made merry. They cruised to a 100-91 victory, stopping Indiana’s impeccable streak of wins. And Kelsey Plum stole the spotlight with her high-quality performance.

“KP is literally one of the most high IQ players I’ve ever played with. The way that she looks at the game, the things that she tells me within the game or even at practice, it has helped grow my game so much,” said Jackson.
Plum played for 34 minutes, and scored 25 points to lead her team to victory. She also chipped in with 11 assists and a rebound, justifying her status as an elite.
