Caitlin Clark might have had her moments in her rookie season, but she is not alone. The talented WNBA roster is catching up to her quickly. And that is exactly what Sabrina Ionescu pulled off in her recent outing. The crowd at Barclays Center had barely settled into their seats before the night took on a tone of defiance. As the final buzzer almost went off, it was Rickea Jackson, a rookie with little interest in hierarchy, who silenced the arena with a buzzer-beating shot that ended the New York Liberty’s five-game run.
The Sparks’ 101–99 victory did not unfold like a fluke. New York, which had found its balance through a core of veteran guards and frontcourt muscle, allowed too much freedom at key moments. The back line looked porous. The rotations broke down. And yet, the highlight was snatched by Ionescu. And how close she came to pulling her team out of the mire.
Sabrina Ionescu Joins Caitlin Clark And Co. After Elite Achievement
With 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals, Ionescu became just the fourth player in WNBA history to record such a stat line in a single game. Her inclusion in that group places her alongside Candace Parker, Brandy Reed, and Caitlin Clark.
This was an achievement that, by statistical rarity alone, separates her performance from the ordinary. Clark, the only rookie on that list, set the standard earlier this season. Ionescu, with several seasons already behind her, matched it with a veteran’s precision and nerve.

Joins Caitlin Clark, Candace Parker, and Brandy Reed as the only players in WNBA history to reach those numbers in a game.
This was just another example of how great a season Ionescu is having this year. Ahead of her game against the Sparks, Ionescu had averages of 18.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. And riding on the back of such dominance from Ionescu, the Liberty is currently enjoying the second spot on the league table. At the moment, they have 17 wins and 7 losses. Meanwhile, Ionescu is not only impressive on the field. She is also an equally headstrong character outside of it.
Sabrina Ionescu Hits Back At Kelsey Plum
The WNBA All-Star game had a unique start. During the warm-ups, most of the WNBA athletes sported ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us’ t-shirts. This was in reference to the WNBPA’s ongoing rift with the CBA. After the game, Kelsey Plum clarified further on the matter. However, she also took a dig at Team Clark. Plum mentioned that none of the athletes from Clark’s team came in to protest.

Reacting swiftly to the same, Ionescu smiled and said, “Not really needed to be mentioned.” Surely, this was a strong attempt towards clarifying any impending miscommunication. Thus, with things looking quite rosy for Ionescu, fans cannot wait to see how things pan out in the future.
