The WNBA All-Star Weekend keeps on giving, with or without Caitlin Clark. While the Indiana Fever guard is on the sidelines nursing her groin injury, Sabrina Ionescu is making the most out of the occasion.
The New York Liberty guard was the crowd favourite to win the WNBA 3-point contest, and she did not disappoint her fans. Ionescu won the contest for two consecutive years and made history. She came clean on acknowledging last year’s contest alongside NBA star Stephen Curry.
Sabrina Ionescu Makes Stephen Curry Admission After WNBA 3-Point Contest
Just like last year, Sabrina Ionescu showed up like an elite 3-point shooter as she is. She went on to win her second WNBA 3-point contest title. The Liberty swept both events, with the California-born star winning the 3-Point Contest and Natasha Cloud claiming the Skills Challenge.
After tying Allie Quigley for the second-highest wins in the event’s history, Ionescu recalled last year’s defeat against Curry.
“I called Steph after and was showing the trophy off because last time he beat me when we were here in Indy. So it’s just fun to be back here competing. Obviously didn’t do it last year, and so really happy to be able to be up here and put on a show for New York,” she said(Via Kendra Andrews).
"I feel like I had to come back and redeem myself." 😅
