Sandy Brondello had to deal with additional pressure in the 2025 season. As defending champions, everyone expected them to be a dominant force on the court, but adding to this burden, the HC had to deal with multiple injuries to her players. Sabrina Ionescu was the latest addition to the injury list, missing four games in a row due to a toe injury.
During the recent game against the Seattle Storm, HC Sandy Brondello gave progressive update on Ionescu’s injury, but the star still was on the bench. Now the 2024 champions will welcome the Washington Mystics on September 9, and the star guard provided update on her availability.
Sabrina Ionescu Provides Update On Her Toe Injury
The 2025 WNBA playoffs are just a week away, with the teams locked in their spots for the playoff bracket. There would be hardly any change in the standings after one or two games remaining in the regular season. The Liberty will be facing the Phoenix Mercury in the first round, which would be an intriguing first-round matchup.

While HC will be hoping to get the complete squad available for that series, the team’s leading scorer missed the recent four games. But ahead of their final regular-season home game, Ionescu provided positive updates on her injury and mentioned that she could be available for the game against the Mystics.
This is a welcome sign for Brondello, who hardly had her regular starting five on the court in the 44-game regular season. The former Oregon player will get some match fitness and practice in the remaining games, preparing her for the postseason.
