The Las Vegas Aces were at the PHX Arena for Game 3 of the 2025 WNBA Finals. The home team wanted to get back in the series and put their bodies on the line. Satou Sabally was one such player who went all-in and suffered the consequences.
The Phoenix Mercury looked to rediscover their identity on defence in a do-or-die WNBA Finals Game 3 against the Las Vegas Aces. However, the loose ball play resulted in an injury to its series top scorer.
Satou Sabally Suffers Cruel Injury During
Game 1 of the Aces vs Mercury series even set a league record for viewership. The Las Vegas Aces had been the dominant team in the WNBA Finals series, winning both the first two games. However, the Mercury gave a good fight in Game 3, breaking the monotony and trying to win. On one play, the 27-year-old Mercury forward took a tumble to win a loose ball in a closely fought game.

She collided head-first with Kierstan Bell’s knee. The doctors put her down on the floor for some time until they finished the initial checks and removed her from the court for additional treatment. According to the latest reports, the player is in the concussion protocol, and her availability for Game 4 has not been confirmed yet.

Sabally was the Mercury team’s top scorer in the Finals series, registering 20+ points in every meeting. Having her out for the remainder of the series would be a massive setback for the Mercury’s championship drive.

According to the WNBA rulebook, a player can re-enter the game if they were removed due to a concussion. Any such suspension will commence prior to the player’s next scheduled game. A’ja Wilson’s game-winner handed the Aces a 90-88 win in Game 3, and they are now a win away from the third title. The PHX Arena will host Game 4 on October 10.
Satou Sabally Warns WNBA About ‘Lockdown’
Away from the court, the player was also active and looking to make her presence felt. The former Wings’ star openly criticized the ongoing CBA negotiation talks and the situation after Napheesa Collier’s speech. During a training session, the forward answered questions about the league’s situation.
“Obviously, it will be exciting to see if the league finally makes an effort to show us that they value us or see where their employees will go,” Sabally said during the interview.
It’s pretty clear that the former Oregon player is not ready to quit on any subject and is a true warrior. Fans will be hoping to see her in Game 4 of the series to provide them a slight hope of rescuing something from the series.
